DEPUTY ASSOCIATE LABORATORY DIRECTOR
ARGONNE NATIONAL LABORATORY
Mr. Daniels is currently a deputy associate laboratory director in the Energy Engineering & Systems Analysis directorate. He is a former director of Argonne’s Energy Systems Division, which conducts applied research to develop sustainable innovative technologies to improve the efficiency of resource and energy utilization; to minimize our dependence on imported energy; and to enhance our national security. The expertise of the division encompasses transportation technologies, distributed energy systems, and industrial process technology and engineering for manufacturers throughout the supply chain from materials to product for basic industries such as steel, aluminum, chemicals as well as emerging industries such as bio-based fuels and chemicals, solar, wind, geothermal and nano-manufacturing.
While the primary client for the division’s work is the U.S. Department of Energy, the division collaborates extensively with the private sector working with small start-ups to Fortune 100’s to develop technology and information to support their businesses. The division has received numerous R&D 100 Awards and Federal Laboratory Consortium Awards for Excellence in Technology Transfer in recognition of the impact and success of the technologies developed.
Mr. Daniels has more than 30 years of experience in technology R&D and contract research. He holds nine patents and has authored more than 125 papers on energy technology.
